Monday!Back to school.

The first thing, no parking places. All the parking lots were crowded with students' cars. Spent at least 20 mins on parking.
Then crowded restaurants!! I am sick of waiting in the lines, therefore I haven't got a bite on food till now.
Before that, even more crowded bookstore, could not buy the textbook I want. Fortunately, my class is at night. I can go again for the book at that time. Wait, my class is at night? Damn it, a thousand times!!
The ATM shut down too, I could not withdrew cashes.
It seems it is a really bad beginning. Whatever, gotta keep on working. Cheer up...

New Semester START!!!

"Damn!!" This word popped up in my mind when I realize that the new semester is around the corner, next week!! That means mountains of homework and papers!! Sigh...
Most of the summer, I have to worry about lots of things. And unfortunately, I am not a multi-functional machine (like a PC)--I just can handle only one thing at a time. I have some tough time here. But I think I can deal with it. I must be strong.

Recently, I finished the crazy "Kakasi" portrait. It took me so long, even can't remember how long. As my first attempt to make such a big pixelart, it satisfies me--I like it by myself.
Since it is too big, I don't think it appropiate to put in this blog--it may ruin the layout here. So check out the links as following: KAKASI

Haven't been home for another year, and last home-visiting just lasted for two weeks. I know I am really homesick now. I miss all my family and friends in China. Just wanna send them my best wishes.

I will do my best here, please take care of yourself. Also to you, my friends!

My old pixel stuff

My own site is all in Chinese, so I have been thinking of making a mirror of English version. Wait, why I bother to do that? This blog is perfect for putting those.

First of all, my avatar at Pixelation:

BRUCE LEE: 30 Years of a Legend's Passing

JULY 20, 1973, 30 years ago, a legend was taken away from this world. But his spirit, his techniques, his words, and his films' presentations are inherited, remembered and chrished by all the people who love and admire him. His name is: Bruce Lee.

In China, most kids in my age (expecially the boys) all used to imitate him or still act like him by now. I tried to play Nunchaku for a while, until I hit my head so heavily that made me realize that I did not have that kind of gift. But I still enjoy a lot when seeing Lee's films over and over. He is the hero for most of my peers. It is not only because of his strongness and technigues, but also becasue of his philosophy, his spirit to stand strong for Chinese. During that time, Chinese are not respected in the west--they are treated like railroad workers in United States. Bruce Lee fighted hard for this and gained back the dignity of Chinese, and which made him a Chinese hero.

I admire him, the hero, the legend.

One of his famous words: "Don't think; feel. It's like a finger pointing away to the moon. Don't concentrate on the finger, or you will miss all the heavenly glory." Bruce Lee in Enter The Dragon (1974)

PS: The comedian, Stephen Chow, has great gift on imitating Bruce Lee, go see his presentation in "Shaolin Soccer", it is fun! Get you ready to kick some, ...GRASS!

PIXELATION rocks!

Pixelation

I found this forum for some time. And till now still can't believe there are so many great pixel works out there and the pixel artists behind them (always got shocked). This forum may be the most professional forum about pixel art I have ever seen. I love idling around there and see every thread if possible. AND most importantly, there are quite a few moderators there posting decent and detail crits and comments to help the newbies like me. I now try posting some of my own arts there (I just dare post my best works ever on there, while, just a few (<=10) right now). By learning from the crits and comments, and esp. by observing other's great works, I learn quite a lot on shading, AA, and other stuff. And always got inspired by those genius guys, I would push myself ahead, and yell at myself to keep it harder. I just love the healthy atmosphere there!!

I feel happy that China now also has similar pixel-art forums. Although they are not as professional as PIXELATION is, they will grow up some day with a bunch of Chinese pixel-artists. YAY!

Keep it up.

Recently I am suffering the idea-jamming of my paper (which has no relation to my graphic habit, I am majoring in Communication, well, academic orientation.), I start creating pictures to keep me away from that terrible mood.

About my pixel art, on the contrary, I got a breakthrought. I find the thing I am good at, which is to do lineart. According to my old stuff, I, apparently, not good at shading. But I find my place at drafting. I could use PS pen (mostly 1 pixel) to draw directly on the canvas. Also, I am the person who obejct to use a reference pic on background to trace, 'cause it is a bad habit--a really bad bad habit. You could not improve your lines by using this method, you are just copying.

A few days ago, I drew two linearts as gifts to my friends. They are just linearts, but I like them a lot. And not dare color them being afraid of ruining them. So there they are.
